Slimming World Diet
About
Slimming World is now one of the biggest diet "clubs" around with thousands of centres where you go and get weighed and keep yourself motivated on your weight loss journey. When joining the Slimming World Diet you given guidlines on what you can eat on any particular day along with regular meetings and and exercise programme called Body Magic.
The Diet is responsible for numerous amounts of success stories and is popular amongst dieters because it does not restrict calories. You are given 3 different types of days you can choice from each with different guidlines as to what you can eat. On each day you also have super free and free foods you can choose form where there is no limit on the amount that you can eat.
The main focus of the Slimming World Diet is to reduce the amount of calories your are eating from "bad" foods and instead increase the amount you are eating from "good" foods whilst still maintainnig an overall calorie deficiency which enables youto lose weight.
How Does The Slimming World Diet Work
When you join the plan you are given all the information about the diet and are advised that on any given day you have three choices to choose from, either a green day, red day or extra easy day.
Each day varies slightly and is outlined below:
Green Day - This a carbohydrate focused day where you will first need to select your super free foods and then add unlimited amounts of green free foods from the list provided. Examples of green free foods include pasta, rice, potatoes, noodles. You can then choose two healthy extras from groups A and B which included low fat dairy products and meat.
Red Day - Otherwise referred to as an original day, the red focuses on more protein rich foods where you can unlimited amounts of free food such as meat, eggs, poultry and tofu. You can then add in two healthy extras from from groups A and B allowing you to add some low fat dairy and carbohydrate food to your day.
Extra Easy Day - An extra easy day is really a healthy combination of both the green and red days with the addition of just one healthy extra from groups A and B.
On any given day you can also have 15 Syns which are basically treats or "unhealthy" foods such as pizza, chocolate, sweets, alcohol. You are given a list of treats and their values in Syns and you must not go over the 15 allocated for each day. As a guide 1 Syn is roughly equal to 20 calories.
Summary
This diet is quite complicated to follow at first, but after that inital period you should be able to get to grips with it quite well. The problem may come if you have a big appeitite and take advantage of the free foods, which is why diets that allow you to eat as much as you want are not always best for everyone. Being able to choose what day you do as well could have a detrimental effect as you may find following a high protein low carb diet gives you better results while you follow the high carb day becuase of your love of pasta.

Because of the lack of restrictions on the amount you can eat it the success of this diet will really be down to you and your own will power with portion sizes.
